How long have you been involved with football, and
what has been your level of involvement up to your current
post?
35
years. Starting with Abbey Lane Old Boys before joining the League as
Publicity Officer in 1985
Tell us a little about yourself?
Worked
as labourer in the steel works before taking early retirement in 1999
through ill health.
What have been your highs and lows during your time
involved with grassroots
football?
Presentation nights give me a buzz, and I have only missed a
handful in the past 25 years.
In the
1990’s a cup game has to have 180 penatlies to decide the winner betweem
AFC Dronfield and Beighton Magpies. At that time, every outfield player
had to take a penalty to determine the winner. After the first round of
20 penatlies (10 per side) the score was level and they had to keep on
repeating every set of 10 penatlies per side until a winner was
determined. The shoot-out took longer then the actual
game.
What other roles/involvement do you have with the
game on a local level?
Previously chairman of Abbey
Lane
What do you love most about your role with the
League?
Seeing
the page I do every week for the Green’un about the
League.
If you could give one piece of advice to a member
club, what would it be?
Always
check information with your age-group registrar
