Sheffield & District Juniors Sunday League Weekly E-Newsletter

Issue 38

Welcome to this weeks e-newsletter.

**NEW LEAGUE NOTICES**

* Congratulations to Pete Sockett (under 7 & 8 registrar League and publicity officer), who is short listed for the Derek Dooley award. For more details visit http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=2308

* A reminder that we have a League meeting on Tuesday 6th April. 7:30pm at the Philadelphia Club.

*With teams now starting to play midweek matches, please remember to email the result over to result@junleague.com within 24 hours so that we can try to keep the league tables up to date.  We are missing 17 results from Tuesday 30th March, 3 results from Wednesday 31st and 20 results from Thursday 1st April.

*The most up-to-date League tables can be found at http://full-time.thefa.com/Index.do?league=5484799

* Due to technical problems, Pete was unable to get all the results in this weeks Green’un. Pete will put any missing details in next week’s page.

*A reminder that the Cup/Trophy competition will commence again on May 2nd at the Quarter Finals stage. The Semi Finals will take place on May 9th and the Finals are on May 16th

Details of the venues hosting the Semi Final and Final can be found at http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=2146 – many thanks to these venues for supporting the League.

The Draw for the Quarter Finals can be found at http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1803

Note: You can play the quarter final fixture before May 2nd provided it does not impede on both teams completing their season.

Some teams in the U10 to U16 age groups appear to be a round behind in the Cup/Trophy Competitions and have not yet got to quarter final stage. These games need to be played before the quarter final stage or if they have been played can they email me the result to cupresults@junleague.com and to results@junleague.com

Please note that on May 2nd, the final games in the Championship are due to take place with a 1pm kick off.

*We have a couple of spaces left in the Summer U10s (this current season under 10s) in the 9v9 League

*Ranch Dynamos are currently under an FA Suspension, and therefore cannot play any matches until the FA Suspension is lifted.

*The League is looking for a sponsor for next season. If you can assist please contact Matt Hardman (League Chairman)

**OLD BUT RELEVANT LEAGUE NOTICES**

*The dates for the League Presentation evenings can be viewed at http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1782

*Under 7s & Under 8s – are reminded that if you are not playing scheduled “league fixtures” then you must have your friendly fixture sanctioned with the County FA.  Also, players must only play in one match – not both as this is a breach of the FA allowed time allowance per day. Finally, only registered players (those with League Registration cards) can play, otherwise this invalidates your insurance.

*Reminder no player registration cards no game. Clubs are signing the match card to say that they have checked the opposition match cards and that the match card contains the correct information. If, during, or after the game, it is found out that a player does not have or has an incorrect registration card, both managers will be charged with a breach of competition rules.

*Charter Standard Clinics: To help support clubs obtain Charter Standard also to help the clubs that will be going through the new Charter Standard annual renewal process or to help clubs obtain the kitemark standard: http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1741

*Please remember all results have to be reported by 6pm on Sunday evening. Please send all the results to results@junleague.com and League Cup/Trophy results must also be emailed to cupresults@junleague.com A number of people are emailing results to the League Secretary, which prevents the other people who access the results@junleague.com email address from viewing the results. REMEMBER THE HOME TEAM IS FINED £5 PER MISSING OR LATE RESULT.

*I have put an information sheet in the League Info area on the League Website (www.junleague.com). The sheet answers the most frequently asked questions I receive, so I hope you find it a useful tool – please make sure all your managers read it.

*A reminder that the up-to-date contact details for all managers can be found on the League website (www.junleague.com) in the League Info area.

*Details regarding the Charter Standard annual health check are now on the League website (http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1547). If the deadline for the health check is not met, then clubs will lose this award.

**WELFARE NEWS**

Praise for Redfearns & Rawmarsh St Josephs U13s

The League received the following email today, addressed to the Redfearns U13 manager:

"Just a few lines regarding my refereeing experience last night in the fixture between Rawmarsh St Josephs U13's vs Redfearns U13's.

I have to say  that your players, officials & spectators (as was the Rawmarsh contingent) a credit to your club & the S&DJSL. The standard of conduct, by all, was exemplary. I never heard any moaning or questioning of my decisions throughout the match. In fact on occasions officials & spectators were endorsing my decision to the players in a really constructive & considerate manner. If this is indicative of your clubs philosophy to Junior football then keep it up & ensure (as we at RSJ will do) these high standards are maintained & produced throughout your club.

In this time when a lot of comments etc can be derogatory about Junior football I feel it necessary to highlight such pleasurable moments that I was part of last night.

Also it was nice to see one of your former players still part of your club & taking on the role of Assistant Manager. In fact our U13's manager, Warren, is also one of our previous players - it's great to see lads like these putting something back into the club where they will have had some memorable experiences.

Once again please convey this message to your U13's & also to the committee & other age groups within your club."

Sheffield & District Junior League RESPECT Video Competition

As you will be aware, this League has signed up to the Respect programme.  Every couple of weeks we regularly change the video on the site to show a FA RESPECT campaign video. New videos come available every couple of months and have previously included Ray Winstone and Howard Webb. The League is determined to assist in the implementation of the Respect programme and this has seen the introduction of designated spectator areas and the fair-play handshake prior to matches.  To take this one stage further, the League is running a competition for clubs to produce their own Respect video which will be shown on the League website.  The video should include your club logo or name and mention of the Sheffield & District Junior League. Please make sure that videos are appropriate to be watched by all and that you have the consent of those (and their parent/guardian) filmed. All videos will be put on the League website, with prizes on offer to the winning video. All videos to be submitted to the YouTube (www.youtube.com) network, with the link to the video to be sent to the League secretary (nathan.batchelor@junleague.com).  The closing date for submitting videos to be entered for the competition is April 25th 2010. The competition is open to member clubs only.

Good luck.

A reminder that from next season (2010/2011) in order to affiliate with the County FA, all clubs in this league must have a named Welfare Officer, who has an ‘accepted’ CRB check via The FA CRB Unit and who has completed The FA Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officer Workshop (WOW). The Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officer Workshop have to be renewed every 3 years and must be valid at the time of affiliation.

If you have any welfare issues relating to the League then contact Lisa Smith, the Leagues Welfare Officer (lisa.smith@junleague.com)

**CLUB DEVELOPMENT**

Kick It Out Development Grants

The Kick It Out Development Grants have been designed to help community groups, grassroots and amateur clubs 'kick-start' activities for groups that are still under-represented in mainstream football.

Through support from the Football Foundation, Kick It Out is able to offer grants of up to £2,000 each. The aims of the grants programme include helping to increase participation from BME communities in all areas of the game (including playing, coaching and refereeing), using football to create more inclusive communities and helping grassroots and amateur teams develop closer links with mainstream football including local County Football Associations.

Priority areas of activity
Kick It Out has introduced a number of priority areas of activity for applications for a Kick It Out Development Grant. Whilst we will still consider projects that do not fall under any of the headings, projects that ?t one or more of the criteria are more likely to receive funding.

·               Increasing participation of BME communities, especially women and girls

·               Working with members of new communities especially eastern European or involving Gypsy, Roma or Traveller communities

·               Organisations which want to use sporting activities to engage participants from faith based organisations or who use sport to address Islamaphobia or anti-Semitis

·               Projects that address homophobia and promote the inclusion of the LGBT community in the game.

What can the grants be used to fund
Kick It Out Developments Grants have been designed to fund new areas of activity to help increase participation and involvement with football. Grants can be used to fund football coaching sessions, facility hire, referees, a limited amount of equipment and a variety of coaching courses including football coach education courses, refereeing and first aid.

Unfortunately the Development Grants are unable to be used for existing work, educational resources, full sets of football kit, employment of permanent staff and one-off events such as stand-alone football tournaments. If you have any queries about what the grant can be used towards, please contact a member of the Kick It Out team.

How to Apply?
All applications for a Kick It Out Development Grant need to be submitted using the online application form;
