E-Newsletter Issue 36
Issue 36
Welcome to this weeks e-newsletter.
**NEW LEAGUE NOTICES**
*Kevin Carpenter (Level 7) is available to referee Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons and weekdays. Kevin does not currently have a game for this Sunday (21 March) afternoon. If you are interested in using Kevin's services please contact him on 07920 441455. He is based at Waterthorpe in Sheffield.
*We have a couple of spaces left in the Summer U10s (this current season under 10s) in the 9v9 League - please contact the League Secretary to register.
*Ranch Dynamoes are currently under an FA Suspension, and therefore cannot play any matches until the FA Suspension is lifted.
* Sheffield & District Junior League RESPECT Video Competition
As you will be aware, this League has signed up to the Respect programme. Every couple of weeks we regularly change the video on the site to show a FA RESPECT campaign video. New videos come available every couple of months and have previously included Ray Winstone and Howard Webb. The League is determined to assist in the implementation of the Respect programme and this has seen the introduction of designated spectator areas and the fair-play handshake prior to matches. To take this one stage further, the League is running a competition for clubs to produce their own Respect video which will be shown on the League website. The video should include your club logo or name and mention of the Sheffield & District Junior League. Please make sure that videos are appropriate to be watched by all and that you have the consent of those (and their parent/guardian) filmed. All videos will be put on the League website, with prizes on offer to the winning video. All videos to be submitted to the YouTube (www.youtube.com) network, with the link to the video to be sent to the League secretary (nathan.batchelor@junleague.com). The closing date for submitting videos to be entered for the competition is April 25th 2010. The competition is open to member clubs only.
Good luck.
* FA mixed football announcement. The FA extends age limit of mixed football for children.
The FA has completed its three year study into mixed football and has agreed to extend the age to which girls can play in boys’ teams to the U13 age group from the 2010-11 season. A maximum of four girls will be able to play in a boys’ 9v9 or 11v11 team, but there will be no restrictions on the number that may play in mini-soccer at the U11s age group. This follows an extensive study, widespread consultation and robust risk assessments carried out on this issue. For more information, visit the League website which has a link to the full FA statement.
*Unfortunately after various attempts to try and attract new players, Killamarsh Dynamos Under 14's have withdraw from the league. This means that all the result in the Under 12 Division B involving Killamarsh Dynamos have been expunged from the League records.
*Special promotion available to Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League Members: This promotion is for Doncaster Rovers upcoming fixture with Plymouth on Saturday 3 April, 3pm kick off. For more details visit http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=2214
*With teams now starting to play midweek matches, please remember to email the result over to result@junleague.com within 24 hours so that we can try to keep the league tables up to date.
*The League is looking for a sponsor for next season. If you can assist please contact Matt Hardman (League Chairman)
*The deadline to submit domestic rule change proposals is April 1st. All proposed rule changes need to be seconded by a fellow member club and sent to the League Secretary.

**OLD BUT RELEVANT LEAGUE NOTICES**
*The dates for the League Presentation evenings can be viewed at http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1782
*Under 7s & Under 8s – are reminded that if you are not playing scheduled “league fixtures” then you must have your friendly fixture sanctioned with the County FA. Also, players must only play in one match – not both as this is a breach of the FA allowed time allowance per day. Finally, only registered players (those with League Registration cards) can play, otherwise this invalidates your insurance.
*Nominations for the Eric Service award need to be sent to the League Secretary before the 31st March 2010. This is the award for any club member that does work behind the scenes for a club all without reward and above the norm - loosely termed the "Unsung hero Award."
*Reminder no player registration cards no game. Clubs are signing the match card to say that they have checked the opposition match cards and that the match card contains the correct information. If, during, or after the game, it is found out that a player does not have or has an incorrect registration card, both managers will be charged with a breach of competition rules.
*Charter Standard Clinics: To help support clubs obtain Charter Standard also to help the clubs that will be going through the new Charter Standard annual renewal process or to help clubs obtain the kitemark standard: http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1741
*Please remember all results have to be reported by 6pm on Sunday evening. Please send all the results to results@junleague.com and League Cup/Trophy results must also be emailed to cupresults@junleague.com A number of people are emailing results to the League Secretary, which prevents the other people who access the results@junleague.com email address from viewing the results. REMEMBER THE HOME TEAM IS FINED £5 PER MISSING OR LATE RESULT.
*I have put an information sheet in the League Info area on the League Website (www.junleague.com). The sheet answers the most frequently asked questions I receive, so I hope you find it a useful tool – please make sure all your managers read it.
*A reminder that the up-to-date contact details for all managers can be found on the League website (www.junleague.com) in the League Info area.
*Details regarding the Charter Standard annual health check are now on the League website (http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=1547). If the deadline for the health check is not met, then clubs will lose this award.
**LEAGUE FEEDBACK**

· Would you like to see any improvements to the League website? If so what?
· Would you like to see any improvements with any administration procedures involving the League?
· Are you aware of the RESPECT campaign? What could be done to enhance the programme across the League?
· What areas does the League need to work on?
· What does the League do well?
Please send your responses to nathan.batchelor@junleague.com All responses will be used to look at ways to develop the League.

O2 Announces New £5 Million Community Fund for Young People
Mobile phone network O2 has launched a new community programme to help young people aged 13 – 25 make a difference to their communities.
Think Big is a new programme which will offer £300 cash grants to young people, along with training, support and mentoring from some of the UK’s most prominent youth charities - The National Youth Agency and UK Youth. The scheme is also being supported by the Telefonica Foundation.
Young people will be awarded the grants to run projects having a positive impact on their local communities. These may include fighting crime, starting local youth groups or renovating community spaces. Eligible projects should be run by young people for young people, and may have the opportunity to apply for a further £2,500 to continue their work.
Think Big will build on the success of O2’s ‘It’s Your Community’ initiative which assisted over 1000 youth projects.
O2’s chief executive Ronan Dunne, said:
“Research shows that today’s society paints a negative picture of young people in Britain. We want to help change that by supporting grassroots social action.
“We believe young people’s ideas can have a huge positive impact on their communities and we want to enable and empower them to deliver change for themselves.”
