Congratulations to Worksop Titans Under 12s who won the Junior Club of the Year award at the annual Bassetlaw Sports Awards on Friday 15th January 2010

The League Welfare meeting on Tuesday 9th February is cancelled and will be re-arranged.

Nominations for the Eric Service award need to be sent to the League Secretary before the 31st March 2010. This is the award for any club member that does work behind the scenes for a club all without reward and above the norm - loosely termed the "Unsung hero Award."

February League Meeting is cancelled; instead on the same night (2nd February) a meeting will take place to discuss mini soccer only for season 2010/11. The meeting is COMPULSORY for all teams with mini soccer teams going forward to next season and for all teams proposing to have mini soccer next season.  It is not therefore a full monthly meting. More details will be sent out to club secretaries about this in due course.

**OLD BUT RELEVANT LEAGUE NOTICES**

  • The tick-box returns were sent out on the 29th December 2009 by email. The deadline for returning the forms is the 12th March 2010.
  • A reminder about Domestic Rule 9C: If after the 1st of January in each season, the home pitch is unfit for play, the game must be played on the away teams pitch if available and playable and the kick-off time will not be affected, unless mutually agreed.  In all cases every effort must be made to play the fixture on the date scheduled.
  • Wednesday 10th February 2009 - TROPHY RETURN MEETING - Philadelphia Club  ALL ANNUAL trophies to be returned to this meeting so they can be inspected for damage etc. They will not be accepted at the February meeting or the welfare meeting. They MUST be brought back to this meeting. The drop-off session commences at 7.30pm
  • In order to help with developing the League can I ask clubs to consider the following questions: A) What does the League do well? B) Where can the League improve? C) What suggestions does your club have in order to help improve the League? No time limit in responding to the above, but I am keen to hear from every club. Please send comments to the League Secretary (nathan.batchelor@junleague.com).
  • If you have any news stories, please let me have them, so that I can include them on the League website.
  • I have put an information sheet in the League Info area on the League Website (www.junleague.com). The sheet answers the most frequently asked questions I receive, so I hope you find it a useful tool – please make sure all your managers read it.
  • Please remember all results have to be reported by 6pm on Sunday evening. Please send all the results to results@junleague.com and League Cup/Trophy results must also be emailed to cupresults@junleague.com A number of people are emailing results to the League Secretary, which prevents the other people who access the results@junleague.com email address from viewing the results.
  • A reminder that the up-to-date contact details for all managers can be found on the League website (www.junleague.com) in the League Info area.
  • All club secretaries are reminded that when they have received a standard match card fine i.e. no sporting points they must contact the age group registrar with the missing details (as well as pay the fine).

Grassroot Grants for groups in Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield are still available for the financial year 2010 – 2011 from South Yorkshire Community Foundation (SYCF). Any groups needing funding for this time period need to get their applications into SYCF by March in order for them to go to panel for a decision.

SYCF will be awarding grants from April 2010 to December 2010 but the timescale for the grant spend will be reduced.

The programme makes grants of £250 - £5,000 available to small volunteer led community groups with a turnover of less than £30,000 pa.

For more information contact SYCF by telephone, 0114 242 4857, email (admin@sycf.org.uk) or visit the SYCF website (http://www.sycf.org.uk/)

*****

The last deadline for this financial year for the Sheffield Council Small Grants Fund is coming up. The fast-track grants scheme is for small voluntary and community projects run by and for local Sheffield people. Grants of up to £4,000 are available.

Projects or groups should involve at least 15-20 people, aim to tackle a particular need and have a co-operative, partnership or self help approach.

You don’t need to be a registered charity or have a formal constitution to apply but you do need a bank account in your group’s name that requires at least two people (unrelated to each other) to sign for any cheque or withdrawal.

Exclusions include grants for food, individuals or to groups with large unrestricted funds or a high annual income.

The deadline is 8 February 2010.

For more information contact the Voluntary Sector Liaison Team by telephone, 0114 273 4113, email (vslt@sheffield.gov.uk) or visit their website (http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/in-your-area/neighbourhood-renewal-and-partnership/voluntarysector/grantsfunds)
