Welcome to this weeks e-newsletter. The purpose of the e-newsletters is to keep you informed of news and events within the league and the wider grassroots football community.

The newsletter is emailed out to all club secretaries on a Friday and now also appears on the website (www.junleague.com).

**LEAGUE NOTICES**

• I have put an information sheet in the League Info area on the League Website (www.junleague.com). The sheet answers the most frequently asked questions I receive, so I hope you find it a useful tool – please make sure all your managers read it.

• The cup/trophy draw for the under 9s to under 16s has taken place and is now on the League website. Click on the fixtures/results tab at the top of the website (www.junleague.com) to view the draw.

• Please remember all results have to be reported by 6pm on Sunday evening. Please send all the results to results@junleague.com and League Cup/Trophy results must also be emailed to cupresults@junleague.com A number of people are emailing results to the League Secretary, which prevents the other people who access the results@junleague.com email address from viewing the results.

• A reminder that the up-to-date contact details for all managers can be found on the League website (www.junleague.com) in the League Info area.

• The Sheffield & Hallamshire Tesco Cup (U13) final will take place Sunday 28^th February 2010 at Millmoor Juniors. Under instructions from the County Association, no under 13 fixtures can take place on this day.

• As always if you have suggestions on how the League can develop and improve please send them to the League Secretary (nathan.batchelor@junleague.com)

• All club secretaries are reminded that when they have received a standard match card fine i.e. no sporting points they must contact the age group registrar with the missing details (as well as pay the fine).

• A reminder that clubs can bring forward league fixtures, just let your age-group registrar know. If you find yourself with a blank week and also know that another team within your division is not playing please arrange to play your league fixture, as this will help everyone.

• We have two spaces left in the 9v9 summer league for this season under 10s – see the League website (www.junleague.com) for more details.

• Details regarding the Charter Standard annual health check are now on the League website (www.junleague.com). If the deadline for the health check is not met, then clubs will lose this award.

• Congratulations to Beighton Falcons (Club), Wickersley Youth (Community), East Midland United (Club) and Greenhill (Development) who all had their Charter Standard Award renewed this week.

• As it stands at present, the last date in the season is Sunday 4^th April. No fixtures should be re-arranged past this date. Clubs will need to look at playing midweek fixtures if no Sundays are available. Remember midweek matches in this League can only take place on a Tuesday and Thursday.

**WELFARE NEWS**

A reminder that from next season (2010/2011) in order to affiliate with the County FA, all clubs in this league must have a named Welfare Officer, who has an ‘accepted’ CRB check via The FA CRB Unit and who has completed The FA Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officer Workshop (WOW). The Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officer Workshop have to be renewed every 3 years and must be valid at the time of affiliation.

**CLUB DEVELOPMENT**

The Criteria to become a Charter Standard Club

The FA Charter Standard Club Award is for clubs with youth teams under the age of 18. The award is designed to reward best practice, aid delivery across the club volunteer spectrum and educate coaches and club officials to the minimum FA criteria:

To achieve Charter Standard Club Status the club needs to have the following in place:

• Club Constitution/Rules

• Copy of Annual Accounts

• Code of Conduct for players, coaches, parents and officials

• Equity Policy: To show equal opportunities in the club

• FA Child Protection Policy: Appoint a designated Child Welfare Officer who should have attended FA Child Protection workshop & completed a FA CRB check

• Public Liability & Personal Accident Insurance

• Qualified Coaches: One Coach per youth team should have achieved Level 1 & applied for or completed an enhanced FA CRB check

• Minutes from committee meeting's, AGM's and EGM's

• School-Club link established - clubs should have a link with at least one school. This could be an informal link to help recruit new players or a more formal link where club coaches may help deliver football sessions

• First Aid Equipment - club to ensure first aid equipment is available at all coaching sessions & matches

• One coach to have attended / booked on The FA Age Appropriate -Introductory Module by July 2009 (new clubs) or July 2010 (existing clubs)

• Regular Briefings - club to hold a briefing for players, parents / carers & officials at the start of each season to address acceptable standards of behaviour & promote positive playing environments

• Signed up to the RESPECT Programme

• Designated Volunteer Co-ordinator

To become a Development, and Community Club requires more then one team, a development plan and additional criteria to be met.
