Chairmans's Message - 5th October 2009

Hi Everyone.

Hope you are all enjoying the new football season even if results are not going the way you would want them to.

For the first time this season I had a Sunday morning off and popped down to Ecclesfield Red Rose to see what was happening there. There were a number of games going on and they were all being played in a great spirit, with encouragement being given to the players without being over the top. It was nice to see and so if you were involved there then my congratulations to you all and keep it up.

We have had at least one report of bad behaviour and this will find its way to the County FA for them to deal with and I myself have had to send a manager away from the field of play. This behaviour can not and must not go unchallenged and can I remind you all that we are a Respect League and that all spectators should be stood behind a barrier on one or both touchlines and should not stand behind the goals. We have also adopted the fair play handshake prior to the game as in both the Premier League and Football League. It would be nice to see parents actually mingling and talking with one another and offering praise and applauding both sides. It is JUNIOR football after all!!

I wonder if many parents actually know the amount of information that is circulated to each club with regard to various things. For example do you know that it is our 40th year and we are looking at ways to mark this? We send a weekly Newsletter to each club secretary. Why not ask your Secretary to send you a copy?? Also the League’s committee is looking for representation from the Barnsley or Worksop area’s as we have nobody on the committee from either. However if you’re not from Barnsley or Worksop but wish to be involved then fee l free to get in touch welcome people with new ideas and thoughts. If you wish to join us then email our League secretary whose details can be found on the Website www.junleague.com.

I must apologise that the Website was not up and running at the start of the season but for various reasons we have changed the site and are looking for a Webmaster to liaise with our new provider and help manage the site. The tables can be found via our website by clicking on the FA Full Time link. If anyone wishes to become our Webmaster then please be in touch. Also we are looking for someone to collate all the results on a Sunday evening so they can be on the Website ASAP. Again anyone interested please be in touch. We do pay a small honorarium for this!!!!

Well that’s all for now so enjoy your football.

Matt
