Chairman's Message

18th April 2008

Well we have just one Sunday left to play fixtures with quite a few games being played in the U13 and U16 age Groups. These two age Groups have had their season complicated by the County FA Cups Competitions that take precedence over our League games and also by the fact that the County FA and NOT your League prohibit these age groups from playing on the Sunday’s when the Final is staged. However they always say that success comes at a price and if you have done well in all competitions then you will have suffered from a fixture backlog.

The presentations are fixed for the evenings of the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd May and again will be held at Barnsley Metrodome. The order for these is as follows U7, U8, & U9 on the first evening followed by U10, U12, U14, U11, U15, U16 and ending with the Under 13’s. We are again struggling to arrange for players to present the trophies with most of the local clubs answering us in a negative way!! We are doing our best but if anyone has any contacts then please contact Lesley Bradley the Under 10 registrar. Swimming will be again available for the boys but I’m led to believe that on the two Monday evenings it will be available before the presentation and not afterwards. We would like to however avoid last years problems with teams leaving before the presenting of the trophies had been completed. Please remember that each team there has earned the right to be there and if your first up for receiving your trophies then it is common courtesy to remain until the last team has received theirs. Any team leaving to go swimming or leaving the event before the end of the trophy presentation may find themselves subject to discipline! Also we would like to avoid problems where some people who were a little bit worse for ware shall we say were prepared to abuse the Metrodome staff because they were told that something was not possible. Remember these evenings are for the PLAYERS not the adults.

Finally I hope that regardless of how this season has gone that you have enjoyed it and will be back with us for the 2008/09 season.

Regards

Mathew
